At Bluefield Regional Medical Center, our testing and integrated medical records are a key part of our comprehensive care. Our laboratory professionals manage everything from routine diagnostic tests and screenings to providing valuable information for doctors to develop care plans for complex disease. We meet the highest standards of professional excellence through the utilization of national performance benchmarks set forth by the accrediting bodies of the JC (The Joint Commission) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act).
Bluefield Regional Medical Center’s laboratories are dedicated to quality service and patient-centered care. We provide an extensive array of laboratory tests that are vital to the diagnosis, treatment planning and monitoring for every disease. In order to provide clinical expertise and consultation services, physicians rely on our specialty areas within the laboratory including: Anatomic Pathology/Cytology, Transfusion Services, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, and Microbiology. Specialized testing is referred to reference laboratories that adhere to comparable standards.
The main laboratory is located on the 2nd floor of the hospital and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Our outpatient testing area (located on the 2nd floor near the registration) serves the community Monday – Friday 6am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am to 12pm. All outpatient services require a physician’s order with the exception of Industrial Accounts for drug screening/breath alcohol testing and for the paternity testing collection.
